Kinja'd!!!

Brother-in-law got the rusted out muffler on his 02 Park Avenue replaced last weekend. I saw it sitting out front of my house when he came to visit and didn’t like the way it looked .

Kinja'd!!!

This is not $300 worth of exhaust work, right? It hangs too low, the angle’s wrong , and the goop all over that joint looks suspect. It looks like it could be a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but the hanger seems wrong to me.

Kinja'd!!!

I told him that if they put that I my car, it wouldn’t have left the shop looking like that. Is that wrong? Is this acceptable work?

I don’t think any kind of professional muffler shop should be using flex pipe and goo.

Not flex pipe, just not mandrel bent tubing, so it crinkles up like that.

I don’t know what mufflers run on those, but that looks like $50 in parts and generously 20 minutes of labor.

That price should get you a new system fully welded from the manifold back. Was this a dedicated exhaust shop?

Yeah, it’s barely cheaper than the catback my brother had put on his Firebird a couple years ago.

It was not. He took it to Midas, which I told him was a mistake. Recommended another shop around here. He's  going to see about getting a refund and taking the car somewhere else.
